SABS & ADORATION CONGREGATION:

"Sisters of the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament" (SABS), also known as "Adoration Congregation" is an indeginous religious congregation for women, of Pontifical Right, belonging to the Syro-Malabar Major Archiepiscopal Church. From an initial 5 members, now having completed a glorious 100 years in its history the SABS stands proud with nearly 5000 members.
Having been established a hundred years back, starting with educational activities and institutions, apart from that now we are actively involved in hospital ministry, social initiatives, press media, parish ministry and above all act as mediators for the pressing needs of the current times through incessant adoration before the Holy Eucharist. We have colleges, schools and other training institutions such as special schools under our management. Moreover we run manifold hospices, old age homes, hospitals, dispensaries, mental asylums etc which provide care and continued support for the poor, the needy, the physically and mentally challenged, the orphans, the destitute, the oppressed, the exploited and the marginalized around us. For us, every field of activity is an avenue to promote Eucharistic devotion and to foster gospel values.

What distinguishes us?
Our Charism: Our charism is the devotion to the Holy Eucharist, which consists in a life of total surrender, result of a deep experience of the presence of the Eucharistic Lord within our hearts. The core of this devotion is a deep personal attachment to Jesus in the Holy Eucharist.

Our Identity: Our identity lies in being genuine adorers, in truth and spirit with Jesus who is ever present in the Holy Eucharist. Fulfilling always the will of God in everything, we surrender our life as a sacrifice, and offer constant worship to Him.

Our Goal: To offer ourselves as pleasing sacrifice to God for the reparation of the sins of the world and to bring the entire creation to the Heavenly Father through the Eucharistic Lord.

Our Spirituality: Our spirituality is the Eucharistic spirituality centered on the Holy Eucharist and the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, which consists in becoming holocausts in order to give life to others. Contemplating the face of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist, we lead a life of deep humility, infinite love and unending mercy.

Our Spirit: The spirit of our congregation is self-sacrifice(Kenosis), the essence of which is an attitude of self-gift and asceticism. It demands from us a readiness to give up all that we are and all that we have for the love of God.

Our Activities: We share in the redemptive mission of the Church through various ministries. Being Sisters of the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the strength and source of our existence is celebration and adoration of the Holy Eucharist. At the time of inception we were mainly involved in educational activities, paying heed to the exhortation of our founder Mar Thomas Kurialassery who was sure that mankind will have social progress, moral outlook and psychological balance only if women in homes are educated. He persuaded us to start girl schools adjoining every convent that we start. Put in another way, it is true to state that convents were started where schools were needed. More than a hundred years back it was a need of the time too, since the custom allowed schooling for only boys. At the close of a fruitful run of hundred years, we were actively involved in education field, parish ministry, healing services, social apostolate and press media. Now having started its edifying journey in the second century we give greater importance to family apostolate promoting spiritual and temporal betterment of families.
